VP of Technology

Babu Tammisetti is VP of Technology at Cambridge Semantics. He brings 25+ years of product development experience in building enterprise-class application software and product offerings in the areas of business intelligence and data analytics for structured and un-structured data. In this role, he is actively involved in design & development, along with setting overall direction for the database engine for graph analytics of the company product.

Prior to Cambridge Semantics, Babu co-founded SPARQL City where he served as VP of Technology. Babu managed the engineering team along with the responsibilities of product architecture and development of the flagship product SPARQLverse – a massively parallel database engine for graph analytics.

Before SPARQL City, Babu was the Director of Software Engineering at Netezza which, after a successful IPO, was acquired by IBM. In that role, Babu managed the Core Database Engine group at Netezza/ IBM. In the initial years of Netezza he developed cost-based Query Optimizer for massively parallel and distributed architecture of the Netezza Server. Babu joined Netezza as a founding memberof the engineering team, and played a key role in the architecture and design of Netezza Database Server.

Prior to Netezza, Babu worked at Empirix as a Software Architect, and prior to that at Applix as Member of the Technical Staff and also in various other development and management roles in the Engineering group. Applix was later acquired by IBM.

Babu holds a M.S. in Computer Science from University of Hyderabad, and a B.S. in Electronics & Communications Engineering from JNTU, Kakinada, India.
